Sweet soul, don’t forget, you are mother.
Is it not you who gives strength to those who may not be able to stand so tall?
Sweet soul, don’t forget, you are mother.
Is it not you who leans into the intuition that whispers deep wisdom from inside that body of yours?
Sweet soul, don’t forget, you are mother.
Is it not you, who in moments of revelation, weeps for the world and all those who might never feel a deep embrace of grace?
Sweet soul, don’t forget, you are mother.
It is not you who seeks to bring out joy and peace in spaces where others can rest without tension?
Sweet soul, don’t forget, you are mother.
Is it not you who builds a foundation to grow and flourish the world around you?
Sweet soul, don’t forget you are mother.
Is it not you who burns from the inside a fire so fierce when you see injustice fall on those most vulnerable?
Sweet soul, you are love, despite having the physical form of a mother in your life or not.
Is it not so that the mother creates life, loves and cares for her own, and fearlessly leans in to the unknown, despite what challenges may arise?
A mother grows where she focuses her love on.
Sweet soul, don’t forget, where there is love, there will always be mother.
The Inspiration: Writing this came from my healing work and the reprogramming of how we can see life through an empty lens when we don’t have the world’s defined archetype of a “mother”. I write more about the estranged relationship I had with my mother here.
Because I needed to raise myself on my own since I was 17 years old, I had to make myself live with the identity of a “motherless” individual. The lack of framework that a “mother” is supposed to provide, left me in broken and toxic situations with family, friends, and romantic relationships. Living a life without love is silent and deadly to our mind, body, and soul.
Through intense trauma rehabilitation therapy, doctor visits, books, journaling, medications, plant-based medicines, and learning through beautiful friendships, I finally found out that I am able to flip the script on the idea that I cannot live a life full of love without a mother.
I hope you know, that it’s all going to be okay. That you can find the way to “mother” yourself and grow into a beautiful, loving, vibrant human being. The days of you feeling isolated, lost, and uncared for are numbered. Don’t be afraid to go and find out other things in the world that embody what a “mother” is and know that there is more to your life than a single relationship, as excruciatingly painful as it is to get over. Your deep pain of this truth is not invalid. I know its beyond words the pain you experience. But I want you to know, you can be there for others who are in the same position to help raise them up. The “mothers” are already working to find you in this world. To be with you, to let you know you are safe, to help you see that you are loved, and to let you know it’s all going to be okay. I just wanted to say thank you for being here with me and I love you.
