Beauty rituals for me have a very special place in my life. It’s my safe space and it deepens the connection I have with myself. It’s also my grounding practice to help regulate my body chemistry. I use some of these practices even throughout the day. Skincare is a lifestyle, not just a routine!

Having a beauty practice helps me to actually look at the mirror and tell myself, “Well..it’s you and me until the end, isn’t it?”. It’s actually pretty healthy to talk to yourself like you are your best friend. Makes the serums go in deeper they say...

Growing up, I used to have the WORST cystic acne. It was all over my face and was impossible to cover up. It was debilitating to do modeling and have such horrible acne problems. I lost many modeling jobs as a result, making my insecurities that much more acute.

It took me a while, with the help of my Chinese herbalist, to get my skin back in balance. I found the best routine and diet that works for me. I also found better ways to manage my stress by writing, reading, meditating, and “letting that shit go”. I also cut out toxic relationships and friendships in my life that allowed me to actually breathe freely.

With my birthday happening on the 15th of this month (LEO SZN), I wanted to share my skincare routines and some of my wellness practices since I am..getting WONDERFULLY older!! I have yet to step into an injectors office for any kind of botox or filler treatments. I also haven’t gotten professional facials in a while, or ever did really. I feel like I have my own routine down to a science. All that came with trial and error of course! There’s some treatments I know as I mature I will definitely be investing in, however, these practices are MAGIC! Just try them and see for yourself.

The center of my skincare practice revolves around circulation, stimulation, facial yoga, and trying to live a soulful and happy life. So far, from what I’ve been told, and can compare myself to others on, it’s working. As someone who has had some of the most expensive laser treatments you can’t afford, products that were from $100-$500, I am not giving you the spiel, I swear! I love my routine and it brings me so much joy, which is why I am happy to give my not-so-secret secrets. My birthday gift to you…MUAH!

Daily Practices

  • Wash your face every single day at least once. Even if you just rinse it with water

    • Some days, especially my lazy ones, I don’t even touch it until the evening depending on how intense the night prior’s routine was. The more I do, the less I do!

  • Moisturize every single day - NEVER SKIP!

    • Find one that doesn’t strip your natural skin

  • Use SPF every single day - NEVER SKIP!

  • Massage your face every day per face yoga practice - this is what builds the muscle for a “thicker” face. You might be losing collagen, but your muscles can be built up to give a long-lasting “plump” effect

    • If you can’t do it every day, then do it longer after a couple of days.

      • 5 minutes at least

      • 30 minutes if you can sit on your bed and chill while watching movies

  • Try and wear next to no makeup throughout the week if you can. The less you irritate your skin the better.

  • Always use an eye cream.

    • Sometimes to save this sparingly, I will do intense masks in the evening and just skip eye creams at night. Daytime eye cream is a must for putting makeup on.

    • NEVER tug or rub your eyes. I know your eyes are itchy sometimes but stop that. It’s a delicate area and every time you tug expect ramifications.

    • Always tap the eyes with your ring finger. Goes back to being gentle.

  • Use a hyaluronic acid to help your skin stay moisturized

  • Try and find a facial mist spray (especially being in a desert) to lock in all the moisture you just spent so much time putting in

Weekly Practices

  • Always take the time to do at least a full 30-minute facelift massage a couple times a week

    • CARVE OUT YOUR SELF-CARE TIME! You are more than worth it and you don’t need to go out every weekend and party. What are you celebrating anyways? Plus, having time to make yourself better will have you also LOOK better so your date nights or friend hangs are extra spicy!

  • Always take the time to do a routine at least once or twice with facial tools (see list below)

    • I don’t have a rhyme or reason why I do each face tool. Sometimes I just feel like using some more than others, but most tools I rotate to being used at least 3-5 times per week. I have the facial tools in order of my favorites from first to last. But I love them all, that’s why they made the cut!

Face wash

  • After using ALLLL the different kinds, cheap or expensive, this one is a dream.

    • La Roche-Posay Purifying Foaming Face Wash

      • I found it when a dermatologist broke down which are the best ones to get from the pharmacy. Inexpensive, effective, and convenient! It’s more because it’s the best one that I’ve ever had that I keep using it.

Eye cream

  • Trust me on this one. I do love IT cosmetics a lot because it works the same every single time you use it. Some eye creams look like they might be working, but over time I would see that my skin would dry out. This one is immediately hydrating, but not cakey. I do not have any issues with makeup creasing. It’s just my favorite. I use it once a day, but sometimes skip if I do more intensely hydrating night routines
